A compact entry into home Bitcoin mining.
Home Bitcoin mining
Compact, open-source Bitcoin miners you can run from your desk. Start small, learn how mining works and keep hashing around the clock.

Every hash is a chance

Scaled visualisation: each mark represents approximately 10 billion hash attempts. The browser is not performing these hashes.
And you don’t get just one round
A new Bitcoin block is found roughly every 10 minutes on average. Your miner keeps hashing through one block interval after another.
~10 minutes on average per block interval · accelerated visualisation
Each square below represents another block interval in which your miner can keep searching.

For the curious
What these miners consume when running continuously.
| Miner | Nominal hashrate | Typical power | Energy / 24 h |
|---|---|---|---|
| Gamma 601 | ~1.2 TH/s | ~18 W | ~0.43 kWh(~0.43 units) |
| Gamma 801 | ~2.4 TH/s | ~40 W | ~0.96 kWh(~0.96 units) |
| NerdQaxe++ | ~4.6 TH/s | ~76–80 W | ~1.82–1.92 kWh(~1.82–1.92 units) |
| NerdOctaxe | ~9.6 TH/s | ~160–208 W | ~3.84–4.99 kWh(~3.84–4.99 units) |
1 electricity unit = 1 kWh. Daily energy assumes continuous 24-hour operation at the typical power shown, at or near stock settings. Actual wall power varies with firmware, frequency, voltage, cooling, PSU efficiency and the individual ASICs.
Your probability of finding a solo block depends on your miner’s effective hashrate and the current Bitcoin network difficulty. A higher-hashrate miner makes more attempts, but none of these home miners has a predictable block-finding schedule or guaranteed outcome.
